Making Mistakes With You Repeatedly

I'm sorry for the way I keep making mistakes with you and for the pain that creates. I know I have let you down more than once—breaking promises, not listening when you needed me, snapping in stress, and putting other things ahead of us. I see how that has left you hurt, tired, and unsure you can count on me, and that breaks my heart. I take full responsibility. There are no excuses for the thoughtlessness and inconsistency I've shown. I understand that my actions have made you feel unimportant and lonely even when we were together, and I regret causing you that distance. I want to change in real, concrete ways. I will stop saying “I’ll do it” and start showing up: writing down our plans and deadlines, setting reminders for the things I promise, and protecting our time together by turning off work at agreed-upon times. I will work on my patience and listening—asking clarifying questions instead of reacting—and I will check in weekly so you can tell me honestly when I fall short. If you think it would help, I'm willing to do couples counseling and personal work to grow the habits you deserve. I know rebuilding trust will take time. I am committed to doing the steady work, not just offering words. When you're ready, I want to listen to how this has affected you and hear what you need from me.
