I'm so sorry I told my friend we were together without asking you first, especially after you asked me to keep our relationship private. I violated the boundary you set and I know that forced you into a conversation you didn't choose to have. That was disrespectful and careless, and I take full responsibility for it. I understand this likely made you feel exposed, embarrassed, and like I can't be trusted with things that matter to you. I hurt you by taking away your agency over how and when our relationship is shared — and that feeling matters more to me than anything else right now. There are no excuses: I made a poor choice. To make it right, I will first reach out to my friend and correct what I said and ask them not to repeat or discuss our relationship. I will not say anything about us to anyone else without your explicit permission. Going forward I will check with you before sharing even small details and I will follow whatever boundary you want around privacy. I want to rebuild your trust, not pressure you.
