You pulled away, looked hurt, and I know I damaged the trust and warmth between us in that moment. I should have noticed how it landed and stopped myself instead of doubling down. That was on me. I regret causing you pain and making you doubt how much I value you. I won't make excuses for my behavior — I want you to know I understand why you're upset and I own it. To make it right, I will stop using that nickname or tone, pause before I joke, and check in with you about how things sound. If I ever sense you're uncomfortable, I promise to apologize immediately and listen instead of defending myself. I love you and I want us to feel safe and respected with each other.
