Causing Hurt by Talking to a Rival

I want to start by saying I’m really sorry for talking to her about academics, especially after you asked me to block her. I didn’t think through how that would make you feel, and I realize now it probably hurt you and made things harder between us. I can only imagine how frustrating and disappointing it must have been to feel like I didn’t respect your boundaries. There’s no excuse for going against what you asked—I should have trusted you and kept my distance. I take full responsibility for breaking that trust, and I hate that I put you in a position where you might question how much I have your back. That wasn’t fair to you at all. Going forward, I’m going to be much more mindful about respecting your wishes, especially when it comes to people you’ve asked me to avoid. If there’s ever something you want me to stay clear of, please tell me again—I want to make sure I’m clear and that I don’t mess up like this again. I care about our friendship a lot and hope we can talk when you’re ready. I’m here to listen and understand how you’re feeling, no pressure at all. Thanks for hearing me out.
