Sending a Rude Text and Fixing It Late

I'm really sorry I sent that rude text and only fixed it after the fact. I can see why you were hurt and angry — the message came across as dismissive and thoughtless, and correcting it later doesn't erase the way it landed. That was on me. I should have thought before I typed and sent something that could upset you. Even if I didn't mean it the way it read, that's not your problem to decode; it's mine to prevent. Waiting to correct it made it look like I didn't care about how it made you feel, and I understand how that would feel disrespectful and frustrating. I take full responsibility: I will stop sending impulsive replies when I'm rushed or distracted, and I’ll pause and reread messages about sensitive stuff before I hit send. If a text ever sounds off, I promise to own it immediately and not expect you to smooth it over. If you'd prefer, I can call or meet to say this in person and hear how it affected you. I value our friendship and hate that I caused you pain. I won't minimize what happened, and I'll work to do better. Take whatever time you need — when you're ready, I'd really like to talk and make this right in whatever way you want.
