It was thoughtless of me, and I can only imagine how it made you feel. I should never have brought someone from your past into our conversation, especially considering how important it is for us to focus on the present and our life together. You deserve my full respect and support, and I failed to give you that. I see now how that moment could have stirred up insecurities or painful memories, and the last thing I want is to hurt you or make you feel uncomfortable. I want you to know that I am committed to being more mindful of my words and the feelings they can evoke. To make things right, I’m going to work on being more aware of the impact of my comments and how they might affect you. I want you to feel safe and cherished in our relationship.
