Apologizing for Inappropriate Comment to Friend

I’m really sorry for what I said the other day when I jokingly told that girl to “pick me.” I realize now how thoughtless that was and how it might have made you feel uncomfortable or even hurt. It was completely inappropriate, and I can see how it could have seemed like I was trying to put you in a bad position or make light of something important. I want you to know that I take full responsibility for my words and their impact. I didn’t mean to undermine our friendship or make you feel like you were less important. That was never my intention, and I regret that my actions might have suggested otherwise. Moving forward, I’m committed to being more mindful of my words and how they can affect those around me. I value our friendship a lot, and the last thing I want is to create any tension between us. If you’re open to it, I’d love to talk about this more so I can better understand how you’re feeling and make sure we’re on the same page. Thanks for your patience with me. I hope we can move past this and continue to support each other as friends.
