I want to say sorry for hanging out with [ex’s name] without checking in with you first. I realize now how that might have felt like I was crossing a line or not respecting your feelings, and that wasn’t my intention at all. I can see how it could have hurt or made you uncomfortable, and I’m really sorry for putting you in that spot. You’re important to me, and the last thing I want is to make you feel sidelined or like I’m not being thoughtful about our friendship. I take full responsibility for not thinking it through better or talking to you about it beforehand. Going forward, I’ll be more mindful about situations like this and make sure to communicate openly, so you don’t feel blindsided. If you want to talk about it or how you’re feeling, I’m here and ready to listen whenever you’re up for it.
