Hurting You When You're All That Matters

I hurt you when you're the one person who makes everything bearable. You've held me through the wreckage of my life, and instead of cherishing that, I lashed out at you—at the very thing that keeps me whole. I can't undo that, and I hate that I put that pain on you when you deserved only tenderness.

You're right that we need time to heal what I broke between us. But I need you to know: you are what's essential to me. When everything else in my life fell apart, you stayed. And the way I repaid that was cruel. I'm sorry for making you question whether you're safe with me, whether loving me costs you too much.
