Apology for the Joke About Hayley

I need to say this straight: that joke about Hayley was out of line, and I'm genuinely sorry. I know it landed wrong, and worse, I know it hurt you. You didn't deserve that, especially not from me.

I get it now—I use humor sometimes to fill space or get a laugh without thinking about what's actually coming out of my mouth. That's lazy, and it's not who I want to be, especially not around someone I care about this much. You matter too much to me to treat you that way. You're like a brother to me, Kevin, and brothers don't get a pass to say hurtful stuff and just move on.

I'm going to do better. Not just with you, but period. I'm going to think before I speak that way. You deserve that, and so does Hayley.

Please know I'm not trying to make this about me or ask for quick forgiveness. I just wanted you to know I'm serious about this. You're too good of a friend to lose, and I'm not taking that for granted.
