My Thoughtless Joke That Hurt You

I hate that I made you cry. When I joked about being sick and dying, I wasn't thinking about how it would land with you—I just thought it was a funny bit. But it wasn't funny to you. It was scary and painful, and you were genuinely terrified for me. I can see now how cruel that was, even though I didn't mean it that way.

You care about me deeply, and the least I owe you is to be honest and careful with that. I'm sorry for being careless with your heart. I won't make jokes like that again, not because they're edgy or whatever I was thinking, but because you matter more than a cheap laugh.
