An apology
Saying Something Cruel About Leaving You
Dear Maya,
I said something really mean to you, and I've been sitting with how badly I hurt you. I told you I'd leave for someone with money, and that was cruel and thoughtless. I wasn't just being careless with words — I was being deliberately hurtful, and you didn't deserve that.
The truth is, I was angry or scared or something, and instead of talking to you about it, I lashed out in a way that made you question whether I actually want to be with you. That's on me. You matter to me — not because of what you can give me, but because of who you are. Saying otherwise was me being mean, and I'm sorry.
I want to rebuild the trust I broke. I know one apology doesn't erase what I said, but I'm committing to do better — to be honest when I'm upset instead of weaponizing my words against you. You deserve that.
