Saying Goodbye Without Any Reason

Filed on the record · By the undersigned

I said goodbye to you for no reason at all, and I hate that I did that. There was nothing between us that needed ending, nothing broken that I was trying to fix—I just left, and that wasn't fair to you. You didn't deserve to be cut off like that, to wonder what happened or what you did wrong when the truth is this was entirely on me.

I know it probably hurt. It probably felt like abandonment, like I didn't value what we have. The reality is I was scared or confused or running from something in myself, and instead of facing it—instead of talking to you—I just walked away. That was a coward's choice, and I'm sorry.

I don't want to say goodbye. I want to be here, to fight for this, to work through whatever made me panic in the first place. You deserve someone who stays and talks, not someone who disappears. If you're willing, I'd like to try again—really try, not run.
