Joking at the Wrong Time

I know I was just messing around, but that doesn't make it okay — especially when your mood was already off. I wasn't thinking about the moment or how it would land, and I should have. You deserved better timing, better sense from me.

The thing is, I get it now. My joke wasn't the problem — it was when I made it. You were already dealing with something, and instead of being there for that, I added to it. That wasn't fair to you, and I hate that I did that.

You mean too much to me, and I never want to be the reason your day gets worse. You don't need to prove anything to me or anyone else — you're perfect exactly as you are. I'm sorry for not showing up better in that moment.
